I sure hope I can get some help with this issue. I have a 2004 grand prix with about 86000 miles on it. I recently made several trips to Texas from Michigan and back with it and ran flawlessly. I did maintain the car VERY well before each trip, and after each trip. After my last trip is when this came into play. Everytime I start the car after it has been driven a bit that day, it'll stall right after it starts and will continue until I put my foot on the gas and even then it will try and stall. I have noticed that if I don't keep the defroster on so the fan runs it will heat all the way up to right before the red over heat marks as well. It does have a new thermostat, air filter, regular oil changes, new gas tank, the tank filler hose and evap system. Im at a loss, it won't give me a dummy light so im clueless. Any advice or pointers where to check would be VERY appreciated.

Good luck my friend. I dumped mine when it started to do that. Never did find the fix. I can only guess that the extended run time caused the plastic manifold to lose its seal and create a lean start requiring you to push the throttle to start. I litterally had the exact same problem. The lean condition also creates more than normal engine temperatures. I traded mine for a GXP with the V8. No more problem

Did this do it with the old thermostat? Was the coolant bled properly so that there are no air bubbles in it, is the new thermostat acting properly? I doubt this is it, but I would check it..........

well I know its been awhile, but I recently did a tune-up on the car and starts fine ever since. Very glad about that. Just figured I would let the community know in case another pops up!
