i drive an '04 Grand Prix GT. lately i have been noticing that after a rain my car leaks between the two interior lights in the front. i believe that this is due to the radio antenna (located directly above leak) not being sealed properly.

is there a way that i can remove the unit that holds the interior lights to possibly apply liquid silicone around the antenna? (obviously, i don't want to do this on the outside of the car.)

    i would appreciate any advice.

Yeah, just pop out those map lights and if IIRC there is one bolt holding the antenna. Pull it up enough to apply RTV on both side of the gasket, reapply, tighten down, and wipe off the excess RTV. Simple as that. I did this to my brother in laws 04 CompG sometime ago........

I had this issue on my 04 as well. Little tube of silicone will take care of it for you. To get to the antenna just pop the map light covers off, remove the two screws (1 on each side) and then pull downwards to pop the clips out. Slide the black plastic support down toward the front to expose the bolt that holds the antenna retainer in place and remove the bolt and retainer and the antenna will come out. If you have a sunroof it helps if you have it open so you can reach through it and work the antenna from the outside.

I just started having this problem last month. I had been going through an automatic car wash once a week with no problems, then I went one time and as soon as the rinse cycle started water started pouring through the dome light assembly. I used the process above and it worked like a charm. The car was parked out in a heavy downpour last night while I was at a comedy club and I took it back through another automatic wash today and there are no signs of a leak. The one thing I would suggest is keeping a magnetic tool handy, I have big hands and dropped the bolt and retainer down in the open area under the antenna opening and they shot down far enough that I could not reach them. I had to use the magnet to pull them back out. That was the only issue that I had. Thanks for the tips, guys!

Edit: It also helps a lot to completely remove the dome light housing, it is annoying and gets in the way if you just leave it hanging.

All fixed now. Took some RV black sealant and it worked like a charm.
