Just wanted to share an experience I had tonight. My 2001 GTP would not idle. Period. It would run if I kept on the gas but take my foot off and it would die. I have changed the fuel pump, Idle Air Control Valve, Fuel Pressure regulator, fuel filter and tested the fuel pressure.

I pulled the IAC out found that the plunger was out too far. This is a new valve and I did not know I had to adjust it but apparently I did. I got the book out and it said the plunger needed to be 1.125 inches out from the flange but mine was about 1.5 inches out. The book said that you just push it in wriggling it from side to side but it seems mine had to be screwed in. I got it adjusted properly and re-installed it and the car started up and idled fine. I did the EGR reset (key on for 5 sec, key off for 10 sec and restart the car) and did a test drive. Everything seem perfect. We'll see if it stays that way but I am hopeful that i FINALLY have the issues all fixed.

Get a Hayes Manual and read it. It really does help. So do the great people on this forum. I have learned way more than I ever wanted to know about the fuel system on a 2001 3.8l Supercharged GTP. Thanks to all that helped me even if they did not know they were helping me when they wrote the articles.
