I recently had a bad injector replaced, added a cold air intake, new plugs and wires and the car is solid until it's floored. When floored it hesitates on again and off again, its feels like the engine is starving for something like air or fuel. I took it to a mechanic and he "THINKS" its the MAF sensor since everything else has been replaced and there isn't a check engine light on. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Please let me know before I drop $300 on a new JET MAF sensor.

    Thanks!!

Have you tried the basics like cleaning the MAF and throttle body?

Also I think you can get GM MAF sensors for around 170$.

Check the TB an MAF screen to see if any debris from yur CAI install, is blocking the air flow.

I cleaned the MAF and car still hesitates when floored or on freeway. I purchased a used MAF for $50 because I believe mine is just shot. I should have it in a day or two, hope it works!!

I'd be curious as to what type of air intake you used. And...how much did you oil it?

Because that symptom is text-book MAF sensor issue.

New (slightly used) MAF is installed and didn't change a thing, now I'm becoming a little irritated. It's a K&N CAI and I didn't oil it at all?? I didn't know you had to??

The car also barely has any power when at high speed, it really feels like something is clogged but I have checked everything in the CAI, MAF and TB. The other day I got on it and the check engine light flashed a few times and then went off??

Anyone know a good GP mechanic in the Detroit area?? I need to get this beast back to full strength!!

If the SES light flashed most of the time that means it is a misfire...get the code pulled for sure.

Well thats an irritating problem indeed. Here ya are on the highway and ya wanna open that beast up. Show every one whats ya got, right. So ya push down on the accellerator only to get an annoying sputtering hesitation. Well it really isn't an air thing in this case, at least not by itself. Thats why changing the MAF didn't help. I think the problem is fuel delivery in the form of pressure. When you stomp on the gas you need more refined pressure to deliver the right atomization of fuel to the injectors, in turn the proper fuel pressure mixed with air to properly atomize the fuel for a clean burn and a hot one at that for hard accelleration. I think you might want to check your fuel pressure regulator it maynot be functioning properly under hard acelleration. TBS could be acting up too. Keep this in mind bad MAF sensors don't always cause such drivabilty problems as you described. Hope this helps. Let us all know what it turns out to be.

Yu'd save yurself a lot of trouble, if yu'd just get some one to scan it. If yur problems, started after yu had the work done; its probably connected some how. Did yu get get that CEL checked?

I've had it scanned numerous times before, that was the first thing I did and nothing came up. Anyway, I installed a new ZZP 1.0 PCM and my problem is fixed, what an amazing difference!!

I'm glad yu got it fixed. But, I didn't mean scan just to look for codes; but to look at the sensor readings. Timing, A/f ratio, MAF frequencies,ect.ect., to see wat changes when it loses power.
