Oh, the electrical problem was GM's fault. I did a write up about it in the issues/problems section on CGP, but Mike probably deleted it.
What it turned out to be was the large bundle of wires that leave the under hood fuse block, and go into the cabin. From the fuse block, they follow the body all nice and neat, then they meet the fire wall, and then go down, then right above the steering rack they poke back up suddenly at about a 35/45* angle before going into the grommet in the fire wall.
What the problem is, was a short to ground as we could figure that much, but it was coming and going. Sometimes I could not repeat the problem, then all of a sudden it would come back.
The wire bundle leaving the fuse block is all wrapped in tape, then inside the plastic wire loom up untill the last 3.5 to 4" before the fire wall, then the loom stops, and the only thing protecting the wires is electrical tape. The wire bundle in the sharp angle where it did its little "U" bend up into the fire wall was right above the power steering racks pressure line, and was rubbing on it. Rubbed it so much it rubbed through the tape, and the wire insulation, and boom...short to ground. Just a small little bit was worn through as you can kinda see here in this picture:
It was one of the three pink wires form this connector blowing the maxi fuse.
As you can tell I had a B-L-A-S-T tracking down this problem...
o, cleaned up the bare spot exposed good, sealed it with some RTV, then wrapped it with electrical tape, and THEN covered the rest of the wire bundle with loom as it should of been done from the get-go. I climbed under the GF's 1997 GTP and finished wrapping hers up too to prevent this problem in the future on her car. I don't want to relive an electrical problem like this again...for quite some time.

I'm wowed at the cross stitching and the electrical problem...
It's funny we don't even know her and are telling you to marry the woman... she's def. a keeper dude...
Theres a computer program, you scan in the pic, select the size you want the picture applied to. The program then prints out a detailed page by page instruction sheet of what thread to use in what square.
You can pay this company about $50.00 and he can convert any picture into "code" for you. www.crossstitch.com
My GF also owns the program for use on her MAC, and can do this now herself.

this is cool, I gotta me a gf that can cross-stitch. haha trade in the old one. jk jk, no-one tell her I wrote that. haha
That came out AWESEOME!!!!!!
Niccceeeeeeeeeeee!!
And the electrical work, Jason your GTP looks like my 89 TGP clone looked when I was HARDWIRING the DIC/HUD Pigtiails in..
Ughhh!!
LOL thats right for sure. A quote from one guy on Power Block a few weeks ago was "I hate wiring. I hate it so much I would rather drag my d**k a mile through broken glass than mess with it."
He was installing new after market gauges with a wiring set from Painless on that show. I can do wiring, its the trouble shooting I hate. Epically on these cars...GM has so much tied together, you could be trouble shooting a cigarette lighter in your dash, and its tied into your tag light in some way. I knew what I was getting into even before I bought a 1997-2003 Grand Prix. 90% of all problems with them was something electrical reported from the dealer. But now a days...goes with any car you buy I guess.
But what I find is that they use crappy parts in places, and crappy wire routing that causes problems, as to what I had.

WOW I never thought you could do a cross stitch to look so realistic. That is absolutely incredible! She should sell those. I am sure a few of us would pay to have it done.
