As says in title I just picked up my 99 GTP, and I'd like to o a few tastefull mods. It is my daily driver, I have the fast car in the garage so nothing crazy. I was referred to ZZ performance and was thinking about going with there pcm and was wondering what is the smallest pully I can safely get away with as long as I have a tuned pcm? Supporting mods will be cai, plugs, wires, and ill be replacing that part of the exhaust where the O2 is mounted and its all small or whatever. Any advice would be great and thanks!

Also can anyone tell me how much boost they produce in stock trim and how many lbs each pully equates too?

    Hey...Welcome to the forums!!
I guess the first thing you should do is check out the forum and read up on what you wanna do.
Don't drop pulley sizes without the proper mods you'll screw things up if you do. You need more than just a PCM you might want to put headers and a down pipe on your list as well. If you look thru the for sale section you might be able to find a good deal on what you need or want.
There is a front O2 and a rear O2 sensor.
If you do start to mod a lot consider a scanner and maybe a tuner so you can tweek things.
If you have questions about your engine post them in that section because they might not be seen in a different section.
    You should like it here.

the stock pulley on the car makes about 6-7 pounds of boost. each pulley is really relative in boost with how much flow your car can handle. you could put a really small pulley on the car and only make 8 pounds of boost if you have ported heads, headers, a cam, etc. get what im saying?

if you want a fun, reliable setup youre looking for the basic 3.4 setup. buy a 3" downpipe (that comes with a u-bend delete so you dont have to do that seperately), a front powerlog, and a modular pulley system with a 3.4". you can get all this from ZZP. get a PCM somewhere else (like intense or overkill).

Well, not really looking to mod "a lot" so to speak. Just a few basic things dont wanna put a lot of oney into it so not going to do a full header ehaust, going to stick with the stock manifolds. Whats the deal with this down pipe, not to familiar with it as this is my first FI setup?

Yeah I know what ya mean, but i'm not going into the engine at all. What is a front powerlog? Also whats the deal with this intense or overkill tuners, I just seen the pcm for $99 from ZZ and that seemed like a pretty good deal for all the improvements they do to it. Thanks for the help

Hi...good buy...btw...looks like you got a nice 'maro there!!

It really depends on hiw much your willing to spend that way we could help you more from there. If you want a decently quick DD, then you'd be good for a 3.4" + Supporting Mods setup. This includes:

    1) Cold Air Intake - Make your own...there are many threads about them
    2) 180* or 160* Thermostat - Both are great, but your choice on which one.
    3) Colder Range Spark Plugs - Autolite 104's
    4) 3" Downpipe/U-Bend Delete - Get it from ZZPerformance, IMO, I'd get the cat delete with it too.
    5) Front Powerlog - Get it from ZZPerformance, the front manifolds on our cars suck and you'll find that out when you pull it off, how bad they are cast. When you see the comparo pics on ZZP...you'll understand
    6) Tuned PCM - ZZP Blows. It toasted my first motor. Get one from 3800performance.com or Intense-racing.com
    7) 3.4" Supercharger Pulley - At this time you must decide if you are going to stop modding all together. If so then get a 3.4" Press-On and be done. If not, Then spring for the ZZP Modular Pulley System, that way if you ever continue to mod...you can swap pulley's with a alan wrench and not a press tool

Any other questions...feel free to ask

Yeah bluegtp is right about everything. Start with the basics. Cai, colder plugs, deffinetely a downpipe. 180 tstat and at least the powerlog for the front manifold if ur gonna put the 3.4 on there. I've done all this so far to my car and it runs perfect. Its a great daily driver and also really fun. But, u don't have to go out and buy all brand new crap. Do some research and find somwone on here or on craigslist whose sellin used stuff. So far I've only spent just under 500 bucks on ALL my performance mods and I guarentee I'm runnin. Good tick faster than stock. Oh yeah the pcm I would get from somewhere else. But a very good upgrade. The downpipe is also a great one and it makes it sound better too. So to recap get a home built cai kit, colder tstat, colder plugs,at least a powerlog and downpipe with no cat cuz it sounds better,a new pcm(cheap upgrade) and if u want a 3.4 pulley bit I wouldn't go smaller than that. And always run 91 octane in ur car. Hope this helps bro and welcome to the site!

Thanks much for the advice and ideas guys Im on pretty much the same pg now, what is this power log? Also my friend had a 99...he had the bend removed by the O2 sensor, home made cai, plugs wires and thats about it. STOCK tune stock manifolds and he was running the 3.25 pully running BP 93 for 10K miles with no issues until unfortunatly the car got rear ended....later had an 02 and unwisely atempted the 3.0 pully and needless to say coulda maded some good smores.....point is I see everyone saying the 3.4 pully, why not go with the 3.25? I mean if he was running it on stock pcm why wouldnt I be ok espically if I have it tuned for it?

Well before bio even says anything ur buddy probably woulda been faster on a stock pulley with a tuned pcm. The problem is if u start droppin pulley sizes u increase the risk of having too much kr or knock retard where the sensors notice too much knock in the engone and actually retard timing making even less power. Anf yes if u run a 3.0 pulley on a stovk gtp it will pop. If u wanna run a pulley smaller than 3.4 I would say u need headers and more supporting mods. Plus if u just want a quick dd what's the point. Just start off slow and work ur way up. I'm tellin ya bro. U won't regret it

I run 180* all year round, im thinking of switching to a 160* for summer. It depend on what climate you live in. You don't want to run a 160* if u live in a cold climate cuz then your car would never warm up. For reference the stock one is a 195*.

Depends on how the car responds, I live near chicago...it can be freezin balls or hot as hell lol I had a 160 in my 95 LT1 TA and that junk had ****ty heat in the winter, but in all of my LS1 Camaro's I've had the 160 and great heat. How are they on these motors?

Interesting.....That does make sense...but if I had the PCM tuned do you still suspect I would get KR? He offered to just give me the 3.25 cause he still has it sittin in storage from yrs ago. I do plan on doing the T-stat,cai,PLog,DP(No Cat),plugs, wires. Would that 3.25 still be overkill?

With these cars it isn't how much boost you can get, it is how much air you can move and how efficiently you do it.

I run 12-14psi on my 3.2" setup. I've seen modded Stage 3 Intercooled cars only run 7-9psi and beat the crap out of mine.
