My 1999 Grand Prix, 3.8L V-6 has 152,000 original miles. I replaced the transmission at 110,000. I am planning on getting at least 200,000 miles before buying a different car. I do regular oil changes myself. I have replaced the fuel filter twice and never run the car out of gas. I am just wondering how long would you expect the fuel pump to last? The car runs great, but I don't want to wind up on the side of the road away from home. Would it be good to just go ahead and replace it rather than waiting for it to fail? What would you do?

I've got 120k on mine and it's been run out of gas a few times. I've heard of some going out at 80k and others lasting close to 200k.

Mine died a little before 100,000 mi.

I had an appointment for tint, but when they tried to pull it into the tint shop it wouldn't start. We pushed it to the auto shop next door to get the fuel pump replaced.
