Okay, I got my blower motor resistor replaced, got a new ignition switch in, installed BackInBlacks ignition saver mod. I was cruisin' right along until I got to the point of actually putting the key back in:

The key cylinder will slide in, but it stops about 1/4" or so from going all the way back in. Ive tried moving it around and all that but its just not going.

Nothing has moved. I was DANG sure to put that cylinder away somewhere so it wouldnt get messed with and obviously I havent messed with the housing for the cylinder. It came out easy enough following the how to I have for replacing the ignition switch, but nothing was ever noted about getting the key cylinder back in, so Im at a loss as to what the trouble is or how to fix it.

Anyone that has replaced the ignition switch have any ideas?

I figured out what it was. When I pulled the old switch out, it was in the run position (as per the instructions so that you could pull the key cylinder out). Well the new one was in the off position. So I used a large blade screwdriver to move it to the run position and all is great now.

Slowly but surely. The problem with me is that when I take on a job like this, I got to know every little thing I can do to improve stuff while I got it apart or make it more durable, longer lasting and so forth. So what would take the normal person maybe a couple hours of work ends up being a day or so with me 'cause I do my best to take advantage of the situation.

I have learned it can be a double edged sword. You either take care of things once and for all or you add more headaches because once you put everything back together from doing just one thing, and if something doesnt work then you have all these other things you did to consider as possible suspects. However, I have yet had that happen to me but I take a great deal of time when I do most work on my car and particularly with electrical stuff to try and keep that from happening.
