I have a basic 2006 GP. This my first car equiped with DRL. I am wondering if there are a few threads are write ups on how to change things around. My first thought is to disable them. Second thought was to wire the function to the parking lights or another set of lights under or behind the grill (I have no fog lamps). Since I leave from the garage very morning the car thinks it is night time. Third thought was to disable the AUTO function and run everything manually like my Taurus (sorry...ex blue oval guy). Ideas? Old threads? Thanks.....Vinton GP (Mike)

I am currently working on this, I've contacted backinblack about it. I have an HID kit I ordered from ebay that I'm trying to put in, so I need the solution to this problem too haha. I've been studying wiring diagrams for our cars, and near as I can tell the BCM controls the DRL automatically. (I haven't checked yet to see if the BCM supplies less than 12 volts to the running lamps , and they seem to be the same brightness as when the headlamps come on. I will check this soon though.) my plan involves wiring a relay into the headlamp circuit using the power feed as an input to a relay, which will provide the headlamp ballasts with 12v directly from the battery. I also plan to wire a switch into the output side of the relay in order to manually open that circuit (to disable the DRL altogether) it is my thought that since there will be a coil from the relay drawing power from the positive side of the headlamp wiring, the BCM will see a complete circuit (even when the DRL's are turned off) and will not register any faults. I will be testing this and will let you know how it turns out. if it works, I can let you know how to do yours.

I can't believe that someone somewhere hasn't figured out a way to disable the stupid DRLs. I mean it's elementary stuff. We're not talking about changing engines here.. Sorry - just frustrated.

Yeah, but then I'll be getting an annoying "Check Your Headlights" warning on the DIC module all the time.

I got the Nokya Hyper Purples in there now, it will do until I figure out a way to turn the DRLs off..

What about the turn signals? They still work if the fuse is out? and how can you turn them on manually?

lol I think your car's DRMs are the normal headlights, on mine , they are the upper part of the fog lights, same bulb as the turn signals that's why I was asking.
    Mine is a 2004 btw
    Thanks for your help anyway

All you have to do to disable the DRL is remove the fuse in the glovebox. Simple.

On pre-04 models, yes. But mine is an 06 and it's like the holy grail of all mods apparently. NO ONE knows how to disable it.

Manual override is available of course, but it's so darn annoying.
