What does the center plug do? My car does not have one, but the car I pulled my HUD cover from had a opaque purple sensor in the center.
Does anyone know what it is for?
Thanks!

It's the sensor in the center of the plastic piece.
Left is the Alarm LED
Center is Unknown
Right is DRL Photo-Resistor.
I'd like to know what the middle one is for, as my GP doesn't have it.
Thanks,

The first one is the Theft Deterrent Indicator LED. The middle one is the Sun Load Temperature Sensor and the last one on the end is the Daytime Running Lamp (DLR) Ambient Light Sensor. The sun load temperature sensor is located on a removable grille in the center of the I/P upper trim pad. This sensor measures the amount of heat that is generated from the sun shining in the vehicle.
So this is more than likley tied in with the automatic settings on the a/c control panel and somehow tries to regulate the tempeture inside the cabin. But I can't be certain.
