Thread: Anyone know where this plug goes/what it is???

Like it says anyone know what this is or goes to? When I replaced my alternator I found it just hanging and I don't think I just bumped it and unplugged it. It looks like a factory connector, but doesn't look like a stock wire (who knows). Only other details I have are there was a piece of black wire loom stuck on the rear header melted, but no immediately visible wires in the area (could be completely unrelated). Other than that, my fuel pressure gauge hasn't been reading (??). I haven't had the time or the temps to really look it over this winter. Feel like an idiot, but lots of stuff that was installed by the previous owner as well. Also, there is a click in the passenger side dash everytime I push or release the brake pedal (probably unrelated and could be the window switch for my nitrous system too). Sorry dumb again as I always have my stereo on and didn't notice it until right before storage. Also was told there is a cheap part that could be making that noise.

As far as the plug:
3 wires (Black, white, red/orange)
+21 A on one side of the clip and PED B on the other side of the clip.







Thanks in advance for any of your info, help, or suggestions. I just don't have the time at the moment to investigate it thoroughly and I'm not a huge fan of electrical/electronic and don't have the wiring diagrams. New alternator and I don't want to cause any electrical problems when I start it back up this spring.

not really sure if the ACcompressor is around there on our cars but it could be that

I have the same one unplugged as SDGrandPrixGT23.

on the two wire connectors likely a evap or purge solenoid plug?
the first pics of the 3 wire plug, the plug looks like a GM plug but does not look like OE loom material...that could be for a autometer electric fuel pressure sender so that is certainly possible
check for power& ground on each terminal KOEO and KOER

Now that you mention it, that does look like the EVAP plug. I still have mine hooked up so when I get home if I dont forget about it I will check mine and/or take some pics.

Thanks for all the help here guys. Still don't know what it is, but I appreciate it. Yeah, I have a 3 wire as opposed to their two wire plugs, but the EVAP is definately in the correct area.

Was replacing the alternator, but all wires to the alt are connected again (one plug, one held on with a nut).

Also, as has been stated my wire doesn't appear factory to me (looks like a black heat shrink sheath around the wires filled with resin/glue). So makes sense to me that it could as well be my electric fuel pressure gauge. It seems to run down and to the firewall, not over to the fuse panel.

I'll have to go out and take another look before work. Thanks for the help and ideas. Would be great if I could find a plug and my gauge worked again (solve two problems).

P.S. Also just found these on CGP in a couple threads when looking for EVAP stuff:

(1) It was fuse 21 in the engine compartment fuse box. I tracked the problem down to the O2 extension that I bought new from a reputable company. To correct the crossed wires I had to cut 2 of the wires and use the butt connectors that came with the Pacesetters.

My SES light has gone away and the car is running really nice now. I sent the company an email today and hope that they will send me a replacement tomorrow. The EGR does not seem to be leaking too badly right now, so I'll keep it for a bit longer until I can find out how to completely remove it from the PCM. Thanks for all the input...

(2) Probably did as a lot of people have done in this forum... O2 sensor lead burned on the headers and therefore shorted out. Fuse # 21 in the engine compartment fuse box is a 15 amp fuse that probably blew out. Fix the O2 sensor harness, change the fuse, and you should be all ready to go.

While the #21 is the same as the +21 on my plug, I looked quick and it didn't appear the fuse was blown. I didn't pull it out, but could see most of the side and the filament appeared intact. Also in the first paragraph the pic is of a four wire connector. In addition the wires from the plug on mine definately run down and in through the firewall. Damn, I really gotta start tearing into the car more. Going to bed...
