Hi! New member, just joined today for THIS specific question...

I'm changing out the ugly original whale-tail spoiler for an aftermarket GT-40 wing, and in so doing have therefor unplugged and removed the factory CHMSL. As soon as I did so, the cruise would no longers set. So, I pulled the light out of the spoiler, plugged it back in and zip-tied it to the underside of the trunk lid and - shazam! - the cruise worked again!

I'm going to mold another CHMSL to the trunk lid, from a late model Cadillac Escalade, so I wired that up and tried it, and again - NO cruise!

So, I swapped the original back in and again, the cruise works!

What in hell is there about that original CHMSL that makes the cruise set? Is there a chip in the light, or what??? But how does it KNOW?!?!?

My plan at this point to leave the original CHMSL strapped up inside the trunk, and tap 12v from the brake light wiring to run the new CHMSL after I get all the glass work finished.

Has anyone ever seen this nonsense before?

I don't really need help making it work, I'm just really curious!
