Just wondering if I should put a custom exhaust on my 3.1 GP and if you guys think it would be a big performance difference??

I lost some bottomend when I removed the Cat on my 95 SE coupe....

I had put 2.5" catback on mine with Flowmaster 40 series... I liked it when I was younger... I liked pissing off the neighbors. now that I am more grown up.. I would have opted for Borla, or Corsa.

It felt like the motor was able to breath... but dont take the Cat off... you will loose all your bottomend...to the point when you mash the gas.. you wont even be able to chirp the tire

you can just change the muffler for sound. its a 3.1 youre not adding any kind of power. granted the 3.1 sounds better than the 3.8 with an aftermarket muffler on it

Yea i know I wont get really any power I just want a more throaty sound to it. My bro has a 3.8 in his Buick Lesabre with a Camaro SS X pipe and mufflers and its got by far the sweetest sounding 3.8 i have ever heard.

I had a 93 GP with the older 3.1... the 3.1 MPFI V6. I ran stock 2.25" pipes, removed the cat, installed a glasspack, and installed dual Flowtech Afterburner mufflers. It sounded great (better than any 3800 could sound unless its turboed) and I didn't loose any low end either. Gained a little mid range, thats about it. It was there mostly for sound. Wasn't too loud either...
