Looking for performance/reliability suggestions for an 02 GTP. I am racing in a circuit track, full contact snow/ice race in January.
Any weak spots i need to protect or reinforce?
Spare parts I need to bring with?
What about common parts failures and weak points throughout whole car.
There are virtually zero restrictions for this race. Going against cars/suvs/pickups/subarus etc.... Last years top 3 were a Minicooper and an 2-S10's

sounds like the radiator would be easy to kill if you hit someone up front. The transmissions can be a weak spot. How long is the race?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Races are 15 minutes or so each. Last year it was -10 outside temp...
I have a full tube bumper already on it. Rad is protected.

The added weight of bumpers is killing suspension height. I need to find a way to lift the front and rear ~2"

New coil springs would likely raise it up if they are the factory 18 year old springs.

Keep the transmission in 2nd gear to keep it alive. If it's allowed to upshift into 3rd and 4th you will just kill it faster. The 2nd gear goes all the way to 80mph anyway.

Make sure the tie rod ends and controls arms are in good shape. Don't want that breaking right away. The control arm bushings are known to pull through the arm when they are really worn out.

Step up to some 5W40 oil too and dump a whole 5 quarts in there. I think the manual says it's 4.5 quarts but the half quart extra is a good idea.
