I have a 99 grand prix gtp and I hooked up a new stereo system in it about a month and a half ago.. in that month and a half my car has died 4 times.. i took it to the dealership after the first 3 times it died and they were not able to find any problems with the car.. they tested for parasitic drain, etc.. found nothing

my stereo system includes an amp, new hu, and a sub.. im pushing about 800w on stock electrical..

    any ideas?

My bet it that something is up with the security system. Check into that.

well heres what the dealership said. i had a shorted resistor at the fuel pump which is why my car died.. so i guess friday the 13th got me on that one.. and then as far as my battery being drained goes they think they found the problem.

my ignition cylinder was screwed up.. you could pull the key out in 2 of the modes.. 1 of the modes was when the car was completely off.. and then the other mode was the accessory mode that powers all the computers.. so what we think happened is that i would sometimes leave it in that accessory mode and pull the key out(ignition block isnt supposed to let me pull it out in that mode) and then it would drain the battery in a matter of hours.

    total costed $422

    lets hope its fixed now

i made sure to have them check the alternator and make absolutely sure nothing was wrong with it and they said it was fine
