    I have a question , my friend and I want to swap engines from a 2009 g8 v6 and put it in a 2009 g6 GXP v6
Is it possible, any parts that need to be taken off or not

The engine on the GXP died on him and we found on from a G8

It has been a while since I posted here, but glad to be back

    Thank you

I believe you are suggesting a RWD to FWD swap. That could be a ton of fab work
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I'd be concerned with bell housing bolts because the G8 is hooked up to a RWD transmission and not the FWD that the G6 has.

The rest is how different are the blocks for motor mounts, belt routing, pulley and alternator placement and brackets.

Pretty sure that motor is specific to the GXP G6. Maybe check car-part.com or LKQ and see if you can source a good replacement.

Dang, he bought the engine cause the guy told him that it would fit with no problems
Maybe he can call the guy back and have him take it back

Well I guess he is stuck with the engine
We would appreciate a little help

I am going to try and find some pics of both engines and see what the difference is

The guy didn't have enough money for a used engine from the junk yard so he figure he could save couple hundred dollars

Don't kidd yourself man. This is going to be a huge undertaking. Sounds like a challenge even for the most experienced gear head. Will the engine even fit in the engine bay? G6's have a small, narrow chasiss especially up font.

No one on this site knows a thing about G6's. There is a G8 section, but its pretty thin. You're gonna need help from the G8/G6 forums more than from the 3800/W-Body guys.

    Good Luck!
