Thread: Odd noise in cabin

I wasn't sure where best to post this, so figured general tech would be a good starting point. My daughter's 2006 GP (base model) has an odd noise under hard (not even WOT) acceleration, that I've never experienced before. It is NOT engine knock. It actually sounds like gurgling fluids passing thru plumbing lines, and sounds like it is directly below the front seating area, NOT coming from under hood. There's no fluid leaking underneath. There are no other unusual symptoms to report, everything is operating normally. No operating issues with the engine or transmission. No fluid leaks to report.

Anyone have a clue about this unusual sound that really seems to come from under the cabin? Again, it's not engine knock, I'm no rookie and I know what that sounds like.

Car has been in the upper midwest,(college) the past 2 years. Winter temps as low as -25 F. No problems with interior heat at all. Believe me, I'd hear about it if there was. Flush/fill was performed prior to winter 2017/2018, including the heater core of course. Heater function was no issue. However, the overflow tank level is lower than it should be (engine is currently hot). I'm letting it cool down (takes a while here in AZ) then I'll try bleeding.

Don't know why the sounds are only heard upon harder acceleration though. Quiet during normal city driving.

Thanks for the additional feedback. Pretty sure there's no fluid under the carpets. And there's plenty of drainage on the ground on a hot day after the A/C's been on.

I'll have to try this another day. I did try bleeding the system, but no air, only coolant released. It sucks working on your cars when it's 110 out there.

Looks like I'll want to add a length of hose to the discharge also, to empty out of the eng bay... instead of in it.
