So, I just bought an 03' GTP and she's got a lot of little things wrong, but drivetrain seems solid and only 96K miles on the clock. Anyway, the car's exhaust is very loud, possibly a leak that I haven't been able to see just by looking under the car. Anyway, the resonator area is very rusted, especially around the flange...and there is a large glasspack where the resonator should be. Also old and rusted, probably louder than straight pipe anyway.

I'm thinking my best course is to just grab a factory dual exhaust from the junkyard and drop it in (gonna be using SD headers for the engine side). Sooo...which compatible factory exhaust do y'all think would be best? Just looking for a cheap, quiet, drop-in solution. I'm not one that needs/wants loud exhaust.

i got a ebay cat back a few years back now, sounds perfect, aka stock and quiet lol iirc it cost me 260 ish shipped. for the most part it mounted right up, i had to add hanger mounts cause i went from a single to dual muffler cat back.

same ebay store i got mine from, 1997 - 2002 Grand Prix 3.8L Muffler Exhaust Pipe System Kit | eBay

this kit has no tips, you reuse the ones on the car. should still mount right up .

I do really appreciate your feedback, guys. But I'm looking to get this wrapped up more cheaply... I think I can get a whole catback at the yard for less than $70. So leaning toward a newer Grand Prix Impala dual exhaust, ideally. Just not sure which car would be the best bet for pulling the system out of.

An 04+ GP will have at least one different hanger along the rear bend before the Y-pipe, iirc. It should still hang and line up the same. Be aware that all the ones I've removed have come off in one big piece from behind the downpipe back. You might get lucky and find something with better than stock tips too, never know.

If you'd like a brand new OEM exhaust (I'm guessing not because of cost), Walker Exhaust makes it. It comes in several parts.

Would you happen to know if 2008 or 2010 Impala catback with be a direct fit? (plus or minus a few hangers). The yard has some of those, seems like a good option if they fit.

I know for certain that 2000-2005 Impala can accept a GP dual exhaust catback, but I dunno about 06+
