ok, so I have narrowed down my 98 GTP issues to either ecu or wiring. now my question and i do not know why i did not ask this before is....

should the gtp start with an ecu from a 05 impala ls with the 3.8 non sc and just run like crap, or do i need to try with an ecu from a 98-02....

i have a 05 impala as my daily and other than swapping coils and some other sensors to see if that was the problem have not attempted the ecu yet. not sure if its worth the 4 bolts to get it out and in the gtp to try.

The 2005 computer is not going to work well. There is a difference in security systems, engine harness wiring for various sensors, injector sizes.

You'd need an older computer ideally a 98-00 GTP computer as those calibration are nearly the same. 01+ some different emissions related stuff.

your best bet is a 1998 PCM. 98 to 02 will work, 03 will probably start the car but it wont drive well because the trans control is different from earlier. I don't think the 05 will work at all.

you need a 98 pcm, end of story. 04 up dont even have the same plugs on the pcm. so thats really out the window.

ive loaded up 99, 2000, 01 in my 98 regal, even with they right maf file, still ran like crap, or barely ran.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW
