So I need to change my oil pan gasket as it is leaking, and I was told that you have to drop the subframe a little bit to get the oil pan out. Is there anyone in the Twin Cities area that has donethiss before and would be willing to help please let me know.

Hmm interesting, never thought of that way to do it. Just have to find an engine hoist now.

I am curious if a lift bar is enough to get the job done.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

you'll also need to remove the ac compressor, its blocking the two bolts for the U brackets the engine mount bolts too.

its only 3 nuts on the bracket, then a few more on the back side bracket of the compressor. then once free lay it on the sub frame, no need to take the lines off it.

i did a smear of rtv on the block, and the pan, then laid the gasket in place. i also used thread sealant on the pan bolts, you'll see that the threads are clear through the block and oil hits them. then the bolts can seep oil over time. 3 years later still bone dry.

and the oil sensor in the front of the pan, remove that first or you'll break it. install it last too of course.

I strapped it up with a 4x4 and chain. dropped sub a little. Either way you want just a little more space than you have. Also .. enjoy the back bolt that is holding one of the knock sensor heat shield. A pivot head ratcheting wrench is by far one of the best tools for this fun job.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
