Hmm ya it seems like if I had money to blow I would probably get one but I'm pretty sure I can change vins with dhp and the magnasteer setting things would be great because I frickin hate how it is now. The car accelerates so quickly the steering goes from stiff to loosey goosey in seconds and deffinately catches me off guard sometimes. I am also the only one I know that has a GM car besides my dads "VET" but that thing still has a bunch of warranty so hes not going to do a damn thing to it.

Oh snap! I HATE that my steering wheel feels like turning a huge pirates of the carribean ship wheel through glazed butter! Drives me insane!
Re: Experience with Chinese Tech 2 scan tool
mine was set to easy when i got it, after a new rack it defaulted to firm all the time. it used to be like butter at slow speeds, then firm up as you drove up to speed. i liked that. id like to have it back.
Re: Experience with Chinese Tech 2 scan tool
Totally saving up for this then. I keep finding other stuff to spend money on in the meantime though! Guy selling brand new GMPP rear sway bar still in packaging for $35! Apparently ZZPerformance shipped two and didn't want it back because of shipping costs! Oh well... I'll let you know so we can do a group order. Hopefully we can get a few others on board!

Yeah... Gm had to mess everything up with the new candi module adapters. The new tech2 kits I've been looking at all have a knock off of those included, so hopefully that works (not that I'm working on anything that new anyhow...haha) and thanks for the input!
Re: Experience with Chinese Tech 2 scan tool
Mine was the more expensive version from buyobdtools that handles GM up to 2012 iirc. It has the Candi module and everything. I think it is just under $300 and freight was $70 because I got the one with the case and everything so it was a big package. I caught it on sale for $270. They may run another sale black friday or cyber Monday. You can get cheaper and save on shipping if you skip the case.
Re: Experience with Chinese Tech 2 scan tool
Can you reprogram the mileage on a 2004 and up 5 button DIC with this? If so, this may be totally worth it.

Sorry, I looked through my stuff and it came with a Candi module. Didn't try it out yet.
You can not change mileage on the car or DIC.
Re: Experience with Chinese Tech 2 scan tool
But........when you take a car to have the DIC reprogrammed, don't they use one of these to change the mileage reading. Or is swapping in a 5 button and having everything be legal completely impossible?
Re: Experience with Chinese Tech 2 scan tool
I do know that most module flashing requires access to gm's software portal online, which is about $150 for three days. I think that's why most of us don't know. Unless I had a bunch of clients lined up that i could pass the cost on to, it's not worth it.
Re: Experience with Chinese Tech 2 scan tool
I have used mine some more and done some live data logging while driving. It seems to work as a real GM tech2 from the dealer did back when I worked at the dealer. No complaints. Especially for the price. I cannot adjust the speedo on my truck for bigger tires. That its the TCM and I have an allison transmission. I was able to change it in the ABS module, but that doesn't drive the speedometer. I don't know if this is true for other vehicles.

Thanks for the info. Been wanting to get one of these, but wasn't sure about long term reliability.
Re: Experience with Chinese Tech 2 scan tool
I picked one up a few weeks back. off alibaba, it was kind of sketchy so, I told them, and they knocked 50$ off of it.
