    Hi,

Looking for some advice. I let an uncle of mine borrow my car for the last year and it came back to me finally with a few issues. Trying to get it back into decent shape now.

The first main issue is this whirring noise. I believe it's also making the car drive roughly like it is really stiff - although may not be related. I am just guessing. I took a video of it and have uploaded it here if you could please have a look. At first, someone mentioned to me that very bottom large pulley looks like it is 'wobbling'. I am not sure if it is or not. Also, uncle mentioned he just fixed an issue with the power steering. He thought that was the issue, but it was just a different issue I guess.

    Here is the video: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AoPjtaOyR87jtDALFFt6X5bay22G

Any info or help will help tremendously. Trying to get my GP back into tip top shape.

Ain't that always the way? Do some one a solid by lending them your wheels, and she comes back lame... I'm not sure your level of experience with cars, but ...

1.) verify power steering reservoir has enough fluid. [easy]

2.) remove serpentine belt and spin/shake the pulleys you can by hand, looking for movement and listening for noise. [harder]

3.) Sounds like a bad idler pulley, but could be any belt driven component. Solution = replace. [hardest]

    Good luck
For the record : I am NOT a naked meth-head who shoves rocks up my butt.

Sounds like a power steering pump, low on fluid, or has air getting into it from a leaky line.

So, the top pulley towards the front, the idler pulley, with grooves sounded a bit louder than the rest so purchased that one and going to try and replace that one myself. Waiting on it to get here.

Talked to my uncle about what the "steering issue" was and he told me he was missing steering fluid. Thinking now I should have just purchased the power steering pump. Going to try this pulley first, then try the power steering pump if that doesn't fix it.

Thank y'all! I'll update once I do both in case anyone else has this issue of if anyone else has suggestions after that.

Have you checked the fluid level in the power steering reservoir?

I checked the fluid and it's still good and I've had it back for around 3 weeks now. He said it had been leaking and he plugged it up. I'm wondering if he drove it without fluid for a while and it damaged the power steering pump.
