I went to start my 08 grand prix base model (150k miles) this morning and it turned over like normal for about 1/4 - 1/2 second then just totally dead. When I when to restart - no lights on the dash, no fuel pump prime, nothing I could even sense.

If I turn and hold the key in the crank position, the little engine light will flash rapidly a few times after maybe 5 seconds.

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this? I'd really like to take a shot at this yet today and my only thought is crank position sensor.

If you have any experience please post up - I'd even call you if possible.

Thanks in advance - hope someone can help!!!

clean the battery terminals, make sure the ground is good.

also make sure your bat cables are good. if you see bare wire at the end you likely need a new cable.

Is the ground just off the cables bolted to the frame somewhere? Thanks so far guys, I'm going to go try right now.

    Other thoughts?

Its the battery connection. Those ****ty closure systems are not locking down on the terminals anymore - loose connection. They won't lock on, any thoughts on this?

I'll take a closer look myself as well. Thanks guys

Two methods, appropriate and slightly more expensive or cheap and dirty.

Slightly more expensive is buy new cables and route them.

Cheap and dirty, get a hacksaw, cut the old terminals off as close to the bad connector as possible and replace with cheap universal replacements.

I'm going to try the new nuts first. Hopefully those are the worn item not the terminals themselves.
