Looking for a good source for the

    • inner reinforcement
    • rocker molding support or retainer or whatever it's called. The metal part that holds the rocker molding on.

I'm from the Northeast. As an alternative Anyone know of a good salvage yard in a rust free zone that might be willing to supply some used rust free sheet metal

Are the Buick Century rocker parts compatible with the Grand Prix? I know they are W Body's, but they have a slightly shorter wheel-base. I see I can get the LH and RH rocker reinforcements for the Century, but only the RH for the Grand Prix. Different part numbers, but they sure look identical in pictures

I have done a lot of work to this car and it's solid other than the rockers so I would love repair it.

Any help would e greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Any thoughts on the following? THis is a question I posed to GMPARTSDIRECT:

I need part number 12458991 for my 2001 grand prix. This is the Left Rocker Reinforcement. I know this part has been discontinued.
The left rocker reinforcement for a 2004 grand prix looks almost identical in the pictures on your website. It's part number is 15258049.
I know the 2004 is different from a 2001, but does anyone there have enough experience with these vehicles to tell me if the 04 part can be made to work on the 01? I am not looking for a guarantee, but an educated idea. I can craft one from scratch to repair mine, but if the 04 is very similar it would be a much better starting point than a flat piece of sheet metal.

ANother thought I had is that the left and right inner reinforcement are similar . Not perfectly symmetrical, but similar. Could I purchase a right reinforcement, flip it over and use it on the left with some modifications?
