Hello! My supercharger pulley on my 97 gtp is squeeling, assuming replacing it should alleviate this issue?

If so, is there anything i need to take into account if i get the 3 1/4th rather than the 3 1/2 pulley?

I'd like to replace both belts as well while i'm at it.

    Thank you so much!

You mean the supercharger pulley is smaller? I don't think you need a shorter belt until 3.2" or lower. If by 3 1/4, you mean a 3.4" it should be good with stock length.

There might be a belt change pointer thread in the "Tips" section, iirc.

How many miles are on that car? Has the supercharger oil ever been checked/replaced? "Squealing supercharger" doesn't sound good. Maybe once you get the belt off, give it a spin front and back by hand to see how it feels.

One of the first things i did when i got the car (has 140k miles) was change the super charger oil.

It doesn't sound like the actual supercharger is squeeling, it sounds like its coming from the belt /pulley area. I used a long rubber 1/2 inch hose up to my ear to try and locate the sound and it seems to be coming from there. Sounds like a typical belt/pulley squeek.

I just looked up a video and it appears that you need a special tool to even replace it =/ any ways around that or types of tools one might have already you could use?

take the belt off, start the car see if its gone. if its gone, hand spin its idlers and tentioner pulleys, feeling for the one thats not spinning smoothly.

if the sound is still there, take the other belt off, and same deal, run it, hand spin pulleys.
