I found out the assembly lube I used and most assembly lubes use graphite. Did a test with some oil and a pinch of lube sure enough turned metalic. Now this doesn't account for the few bigger peices unless it was foreign or old head gasket. Just going to hope for the best and stay out of high rpm and boost until I'm sure. What rpms do you guys set your idle at with cams? I set mine at 900 but want to preserve the damper as long as possible since I'm running the dampener killer 90#ers.

Debris gets everywhere when scraping and cleaning. That's why we all say run it and dump it.

Appreciate the help, no better feeling than having to do everything all over again.

Cam guys, what rpm did you set your idle at?

If you want to have best of both worlds, set it low but safe in gear and lower in N only
so when you want to hear your bumpstick, shift it to N

It runs ok at 900 but want to save dampener. Bumpstick, I love it. Anyone running 90#ers?

Well, after 30k miles, I swapped to 130# springs. Then, after 20k miles on those, I pulled the chain and dampner....very little wear. Probably equivalent to a stock motor with 150k on it.

    I don't have a dampener.

When I did it was with s1x and 105s. It looked fine when I took it out

Stock dampener. 90 Springs. VS cam. I idle at 775 rpm. Sounds and idles like stock. On a rebuild I changed oil after first startup, 100 miles, 500 miles, then normal oil changes. Probably overkill but oil is cheap and wanted to make sure any contaminates, ie leftover gasket, assembly lube, dust, dirt, antifreeze, etc, got flushed out.

Put some miles on the cam, metallic in oil seems to have faded away. Car sounds great, and scoots right down the road but im chasing this random misfire that I believe is causing my TCC not to lock.

Im using AL103's gaped at .52. From my research im using the right temp plugs and gap. My coils were fine before the cam install (no misfires). I did notice a small crack where the bolt to the coil bracket but cant imagine that would cause my issue. Cylinders 6 and 4 misfire much more than the others.

    Any advice??

swap that coil. the crack could be the issue.

those plugs only last like 3000-5000 miles, and that gap is bigger than it needs to be, I gap mine to .35.
