Hello friends. Was hoping someone could please help me with this problem. I own a 2007 Grand Prix GXP which is fairly rare as it has a 5.3 liter engine in it that is almost like driving a rocket. I keep having problems with my coolant sensor which disables the a/c if it is not working properly. In Florida that is a horrible thing even this time of year when it sometimes is in the 80s in January. I have replaced it a couple of times in the last few months and have also replaced the connector. I don't see any problems with the wires down to where they go into the harness. Could it be that the after market sensors are confusing the computer or may have issues? I will watch the temp. gauge and it never does seem to be accurate. The other day I disconnected the pos. + of the battery then checked the wiring the best I could, disconnected and connected the sensor plug then everything was fine. Drove the car 2 different days for about 80 miles without a problem. Today of course my wife takes the car, goes into town and there's the warning coming on again about the a/c being disabled with the car thinking it's running hot. Fans are blasting full speed because it's trying to cool down a motor that isn't hot. Hope someone knows what might be going on. I was going to go to the dealership and pay triple what the parts stores charge for a new sensor and see what happens but would rather try anything else first. Thanks for any help someone can give me. Appreciate it very much.
