    How are you all doing!
I just recently purchased a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix base, "non supercharged" with 115000 miles. As I have been getting to know more about the car, I have a question in regard to the annoying door ajar warning on the DIC, even though the hood is indeed closed properly, the warning keeps coming on. As I have been investigating the hood latch, I do not see any electrical connector coming from it, only a 2 wire connector nearby thats not plugged into anything. So is there a way to trick it into thinking that its closed, or should I just buy a new latch that has the connector/switch? I understand the remote start will not work if any of the doors are ajar. I appreciate anything you guys can tell me about this!

    Thanks!

Sound like you have a door ajar, or a bad door switch.

There is a switch on 04+ cars for the hood. I've seen them on some 06's, my 05' doesn't have one. The switch is in the latch so that connector should plug into it. If not maybe the car was in a wreck and replaced with a patch without the switch.

My 07 definitely has a hood ajar switch. I don't remember seeing any kind of harness on the latch when I was messing with it a few months ago, but I could be wrong.

There is a chance that the front bumper was replaced because it does not have the Pontiac emblem on it. I have looking around online for info and photos of this latch with the switch and on my latch, there is no connector or pigtail coming from it. Is there a way to somehow trick it into thinking that its closed by grounding the 2 wires together, or is there more to it than that?

Jumper the terminals. If that works wrap in tape and call it a day.

Man, I'm just not familiar with the 04+ but if it has a bumper with no indent for an emblem, yes there may have been a previous crash fix. If I had to take a guess, I'd say you'll find a switch near the fender's edge, on a bracket and with a rubber boot over it perhaps. It would work like a dome lamp or refrigerator door switch, just a button. But I could also be wrong.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

Thanks for the input! I will see if I can jumper them, and if not I may just order a new latch with the built in switch.

It's actually built into the latch just like the doors are. I dealt with one on a GXP a guy had local that had ran into the back of someone. I noticed the switch when taking it out and we went to the yard and pulled one with the switch built in.
