I remembered I had one of these from chasing ghouls in the old Blazer, which now runs happily without throwing codes. I'm sure it's been asked, and this is the cheapest of the cheap scan tool options. I don't expect a lot here. Anyway, there it is with what the data logger can.. uh.. log, I guess. My 05 GTP is completely stock trim. I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at.

That old laptop needs to be plugged in, but I have a lighter adapter somewhere.

These are just what the logging screen shows that I can log into an excel file. There's a tickbox that shows available PIDs for make/model. "Show All" is selected.

    Thanks for taking a look.

see if you got knock retard in the list. the fuel trims the o2 timing trans temp, engine temp are all good thing to be able to see.

will that put up live date? or just log it?

I remember logging fuel stuff with the Blazer. It's been a while, I'll check.

Alright, I went and looked with it running. It looks like I can select any of the pictured PIDs to view/log live. So, no knock sensor.

The log time can be set from 0 to as much space as I have. I was also thinking that Ignition advance on #1, IAT, and MAF might be useful also. Fuel/Air ratio there... would your guess be that's what the car is asking for, or what it actually is?

    Thanks.

all of that stuff would be helpful. not that it can fixed with out a tuner. the long term fuel trims will tell a lot of the story.

and the timing would fall off a lot if its got kr, so you can kinda tell that way, but you need to know what the timing is set to.

say you know its set to 18, and your reading 13 or 15 or its spiking up and down, that would tell you have kr.

The AFR pid is the EQ ratio, not an actual number but it's easy to figure out the number with math.

Take the stoich rate in the computer which for stock is 14.68 and divide it by the EQ ratio to get a commanded target AFR. Likely it will read in the mid 1.2XX to 1.3XX as the RPM rise. Stock calibrations will call for low 11's to high 10's for air fuel ratio. It should be pretty close to that if you have a wideband in the exhaust.
