hey everyone, i just test drove a 98 gtp, and i noticed the boost gauge didnt seem to do anything. i didnt thrash the throttle either, but i thought that it would move under moderate acceleration. could it also be that they replaced the oem radio with an aftermarket stereo. also i noticed a little oil above the valve cover on the fron of the engine. is this just possibaly valve cover leaking? other than that it drove nice and everything. so any suggestions would be greatly appreiated.

Give it more gas. I'm sure it will move. It works off of the MAP sensor. And if that is unplugged or has come off it usually goes all the way up (gauge boost level)

The oil you are refering to is an easy fix by replacing the valve cover gaskets. And can actually have it done for free by any dealer due to the recall on them.

Also it has an SES light on, he said he had it checked and they told him it was the o2 sensor directly behind the catalytic converter, and he said the abs light came on last week, he said it came on and off, and he thinks it a abs sensor. and he also said the tcs light is on because of the abs. basically said it came on when the abs light came on.

Correct. Sounds right to me. You will more than likley need to change one of the wheel hubs to fix the ABS/TCS light issue. That is the most common cause of that issue. It does not mean that you have bad wheel bearings. But rather the sensor has gone bad.

If it is the o2 sensor behind the cat then it will not hurt performance or economy at all.

The front o2 sensor (in the rear exhaust manifold) is the one that determins the fueling ect. The rear one's only purpose is to monitor the cat to ensure it is working properly.

ok i went ahead and bought the car, the boost gauge works i guess i wasn't pushing hard enough on the go pedal. i went to autozone, and they said the code is an o2 sensor reading high or hot on the 1bank, 2nd sensor. i found it does have a rear strut mount bushing wore out, so im replacing that thursday,as well as changing the o2 sensor which i hope is he correct one "the one directly behind the catalytic convertor" and i am going to check the wires to the front abs wheel sensors to see if one might be broke or damaged causing the abs light to come on.
