Hey,

New to the forum and I'm wondering if someone can explain the consequences of an unrepaired P0446 obd code in layman's terms? I'm driving a 2005 grand prix, base model, that's in great shape, but at this point I'd rather not invest $300-$500 more in to the car because the mileage is getting up there and I'm wondering what the impact of ignoring this code is? I believe the code is P0446 Evap Vent Valve Performence.

I have an ODB2 reader that I hook up to and read/clear the code (it's frigging cold here in NB so I want the remote starter to work) and I'm really only trying to get another 18 months out of the car since at that point I'll need new summer/winter tires. I don't have a mechanic I can trust around here so I'm left at the mercy of many of the major dealerships and that's going to cost me an arm and a leg. Also worth noting that I doubt it is the gas cap since that's been replace over the last few years and also had a new battery two years ago that is testing fine.

Also, I won't say I'm a pro or even novice by any means, but I'm also fully capable of following an instructional youtube video if there's anything anyone can suggest?

Thanks!
