Hi folks, as you can see this is my first post. There are some problems with my wifes GP with a normal 3800. When the key is turned to "run" everything normal lights up on the dash. When it's on "start" nothing happens except all the dash lights go off. Took off and tested the starter, it was OK. I put a voltmeter on the little terminal on the starter (the one that activates the magnet) and it showed anywhere from 0.25 to 0.75 volts with the key in start. I replaced the key cylinder. The security light stayed on, but I did the procedure where you leave it in "run" for 10 minutes then try to start it x3 (takes 30 minutes). The security light went away. Replaced the starter anyway, and it still wouldn't crank over. Voltage was still below 1.0 volt at the starter.
What would you do next? Tomorrow someone is coming by with a code reader to try some diagnostics.
