What would be an ideal intercooler setup for running a 3.0 pulley, 1.9 rockers, full headers, 3'' exhaust, p&p gen 3,180 thermostate, autolite 104's, ls1 tb, cai, and obviously a tune. Is it hard to made a fmic setup or just go with a short stack intercooler?

for a 3.0 and no cam, I'd say a Full sized IC, stage 2 or 3(if that even still exsists)... FMIC are usualy only effective on turbo cars, cause they need the air after the (insert F/I device of your choice here), and before the intake manifold, which is impossible on our cars with the M90 as it is

get a ZZP stage 2 setup. it is nearly the best one you can get, best bang for the buck by far. get the biggest front mount heat exchanger you can get. might be good to look into the new ones from ZZP that are like the frozen boost ones.

this will cost you around $1000 though..

By a used stg 2 gen 3. Either find a full kit or the core. Look in the for sale section here and on clubgp.com or other forums. ZZP's fmhe is the best heat exchanger for our cars right now, you can find them elsewhere but you know this is designed around our cars - ZZ Performance

You can buy the hoses and fittings later at a hardware store. You may want to look into different IC pumps and see what is best for your setup, mine came with a pump so I never really looked too much at them.

Edit: lol, i concur with bio... left my reply box up and didnt submit until 20 min. later...

    ZZ Performance.

Is there anything I can make for cheaper?

the only thing you might be able to get cheaper in this case is if you go with a cheaper front mount heat exchanger. just get a VW one off ebay or something and that will work nicely. it just wont be the best setup you can have. you can also buy a pump and all the hosing for cheaper if you know how to shop around.

the core is the part youre never going to get around buying a good one. used are fine as long as they work and are complete.

Since we are talking about fmhe's, which one would you think is the best for just performance, frozenboost or zzp's? i currently run the version #3 fmhe that came with the stage 2 and am going to upgrade front mounts this spring. Any ideas or numbers to help?
