Several weeks ago i noticed what sounded like road noise getting worse from the rear. After looking at the rear end i noticed LR tire has uneven wear on the inside tread. RR tire wear is more even. Both front tires do not have much tread left but the wear is even.
Could a rear end that needs alignment cause some extra noise that sounds like this? No bars appear bent and car has never been towed. Also is it possible to align the rear w/o doing the front?

Honestly you can't accurately align the rear without reading the front because the front works in relation with the rear. You'll never get the thrust angle correct. You're better off buying new tires and protecting your investment with a 4-wheel alignment.

I am worried it could be that hub. Other side was replaced in 09 because ABS came on and stayed on. ABS warning does come on quite frequently lately but is not on with next startup.

Did rear brakes today and discovered LR hub is indeed the noise maker. This one has 102,000 miles on it and other side 42,000 miles. RR was quiet as a mouse when spun and LR slight grating noise. So went out and bought a Moog hub. Figured it was worth the extra 30 bucks and 3 year warranty versus 1 year on the cheaper one. I'll try and slap that baby on tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Mirraco, i think you stole those parts. What a deal. I paid about 100 for the one. Well i had to literally beat the old hub out with a sledge hammer because of some corrosion between hub and aluminum housing but after that everything was easy and no more noise. I would say 102,000 on the hub is not too bad its when you have to replace one at 60,000 just because the sensor went bad that really bites. Just remember to put some grease between the wheel and rotor so them wheels will come off easy for us northerners who have to deal with snow and salt. Steel and aluminum alloy wheels like to stick together i hear when salt comes into play. When wifes uncle did the rear brakes he had beat one of the wheels off the car so he used grease when putting them back on and 6 years later i had no trouble getting those wheels off.
On to the front ones before the snow flies.
