Hi guys,

I recently bought a 1998 grand prix gtp with about 230,000 km (140,000 mi) that is very lightly modified. Mostly just aesthetics done but it has a DIY open cone filter, 180 tstat and custom exhaust but that's all at this point. The car runs quite well and hasn't given me many problems (besides evap P0440 CEL coming up once a tank of gas and goes off once i open the gas cap to let it depressurize). It feels quite powerful (compared to my 97 civic I used to have so that's not saying much haha). So I decided I'd time it's 0-100 km for fun. I read that new they would get around 6.6 seconds so I was expecting around 7 or 7.5 due to the loss of power over time but NOPE, I got 9.75 seconds. So i decided to run some royal purple, twice. Afterwards I re-timed it 3 times and the best time was 9.5 seconds.. i was told the spark plugs and wires were new so they should be good but I'm not sure what else I can do to regain lost power or diagnose what's causing it. I'm very new to cars but I didn't think old age would cause it to gain 3 seconds.. my dad's ford fusion with a 2.5L is faster than it! Any tips or hints on things I should check for replacement or any other ways to gain back this power? All opinions are welcome, thanks guys!
