Anybody move the battery to the trunk?

My 05 Magnum has the battery located under the trunk floor by the compact spare....designed that way from the factory to improve the F/R weight bias. The Magnum has a "traditional" drivetrain layout, longitudinally mounted V8, auto transmission and RWD, so weight and balance is good. Moving the battery to the trunk makes it even better.

FWD cars like the GP are hopelessly unbalanced with all of the weight above the front wheels, would moving the battery to the trunk have any measurable effect? Anybody tried it?

Moving 40 pounds couldn't make that much of a difference unless you were already trying to do some kind of race weight stuff

Considering FWDs need all the weight they can get over the front wheels moving the battery to the back is counterintuitive.

For traction, yes, considering that the front end lifts at launch. I was thinking more in terms of handling, taking that 40 lbs that sits ahead of the front wheels at the outside corner, and moving it inboard and rearward. Any amount of weight you can redistribute like this will make the car more nimble, but I'm not sure if the cost/effort are worth the results here.

A Grand Prix is still going to be 3600 lbs, and still going to be nose heavy, and is never going to be nimble.

If you want a nimble car get a Honda, or a BRZ,

I moved it, but not for weight transfer.. More for I got tired of slamming my knuckles anytime I needed to either pull the battery or change a belt and I wanted the space to mount a IC reservoir there when the time came
