Thread: Will KYB Adjustable struts fix my problem? 245/45/18 tire

I have just gotten 18 inch saleen wheels 18x9 with 245/45/18 tire and pretty much only rub on freeway bumps. Im not sure my existing struts are going bad but i notice my car does have a bit more bounce than say the 98 buick lesabre my buddy has thats even older than my 2002 grand prix. Would the KYB adjustable struts in the rear atleast help keep the tires from rubbing that plate on the spring strut assembly?

Could just roll your fenders. Or do you know it's rubbing on the top mount which would be kinda insane.

the plate moves with the tire, the spring is ABOVE that plate, it cannot hit your tire on bumps

so what am i rubbing against? the wheel well? Should I roll the fenders? Would the adjustable struts help or heightening springs help?

likely the offset is too far out on the saleens. Sure a lot of people have run those wheels but you need to roll the fender lip. should be pretty easy to see where its rubbing on both the tire and the tops of the fender lips.

also the 245/45/18s is what most people run.

Roll your fenders in the rear. Problem solved!

an adjustable strut won't stop the spring from being too soft to keep the tires out of the fenders. and raising the rear is going to look terrible. i hope the car is lowered already or i guarantee it looks like poop as it is.

Changing the strut isn't going to help you.

Roll the fenders.

Do it right the first time, or go to a thinner wheel.

my lord look at all that air between the tires and fender. my eyes are burning from the gap.

optical illusion created by larger diameter wheels. doesn't make it any better knowing that, though.

So I did a test with my friend. We tried to bounce the rear of the grand prix to see where it is rubbing and as hard as we bounced it we could not see any touching of tire and fender. You can see in the pictures i have a at least a good inch and a half probably two inch gap from tire to fender in back. Is it possible our weight bouncing the car doesnt even come close to freeway 70mph bumping? Could I be rubbing something else? Anyone have this size mustang wheel with this tire size who can help?

There is a lip on the inner rear fenders. You can feel it with your hands. Roll that part and be done.

Car is asking to be lowered.

Lowering will help the car not rub? And wouldnt I would have seen that lip touching the tire when i bounced the back? Quite a pricey job to not really know for sure...
