can you run 12" or 13" rotors with stock calipers? Im getting 18 inch wheels that weigh 26 lbs each. 40lbs added weight more when compared to stock rims. Looking at R1 Concepts for rotors as well as W Body package deal for front rotors.

do the calipers install the same?
Fbody calipers are half the weight of stock, dual piston and a 12inch rotor
I think i will just get w body front 12" rotor/caliper package a bit more affordable
Fbodys are 50bucks a pair in jys and new 12inch rotors are 80 bucks on ebay drilled and slotted..way cheaper than wbody store
how difficult is installing fbody calipers on a w body?
You might want to take a look at this as an option.

Isnt the impala a w body? Why does it have a 12 inch rotor? Does that mean the impala has an fbody caliper?
do the monte carlos and impalas have a unique caliper from the rest of the w body world?
have you ever changed brakes? pads? rotors? or a line to a caliper? if not you maybe over your head already.
brakes are about the easiest thing to work on every, but if your lost at installation already, you dont know what your doing to the fullest, do you?
rule of thumb here, if you take calipers from a car, use it rotors and pads, nothing else. theres is no mix matching of this part and this part. unless you want to crash and die......
heres a how to for f bodys, pics and parts list too. http://www.regalgs.org/topic/54303-f...brake-upgrade/
the imp or montie brakes replaces the stock crap too. only those just bolt on and dont need a sleeve or the bracket drilled and taped.
I just want to upgrade to drilled and slotted rotors. I'm getting bigger 18 wheels that are 10 lbs more than stock each wheel. I'm guessing stock calipers on 12 inch rotors is a no go even if it work because it is dangerous so I'd have to get fbody calipers. I know the w body store offers a package with 12 inch rotors that come with calipers? Not a bad combo? Just trying to upgrade my rotors to and have them compensate for new size and weight. Would standard oem sized and weight drilled and slotted rotors from r1 concepts be just fine or is an inch bigger on the rotors a big difference to upgrade caliper as well?
go find some f body brakes, they come off a 98-02 firebird/camaro. buy the same rotors for those years. the f bodys fit under a 16 wheel aka stock, all but them crosslace wheels. they are a 12 rotor and will help a ton over stock with stock wheels or larger wheels.
anything bigger is just being flashy lol do they work better some what im sure, but for what the large brakes cost its not worth it unless you have money to burn.
stay away from the kits, they are charging you 2 times what the set should cost.
Do you have a GP with factory 11" rotors up front? If so, easiest thing for you is upgrading to 04+ grand prix caliper brackets. You can use your existing calipers, the brackets just move your calipers further from center so you can use a 12" rotor. No switching calipers, no bleeding brakes, just like a regular brake job but you just put different parts back on in the place of stock.
The wbody kit is just a fbody set up sold in a kit for triple the price.
That's a good idea, but honestly the food caliper is 10times better than the stock set up and lighter...if your gonna get 12inch rotor ls anyway, spend 50 more bucks and get fbody calenders and brackets,..they bolt right on with a 3 dollar adapter sleeve and make a world of difference over stock calipers.
what vehicles will have a 12" rotor that will fit a 2002 grand prix gtp?
