    Hi LifeDeerHunter,
I've been wondering the same thing myself. Hopefully someone with some experience in this area will chime in. I'd be interested to hear the answer.

I run green, some run prestone etc

Dexcool is fine as long as you keep up with your flushes and make sure there's no leaks in your system. Dexcool tends to gunk up if airs introduced to the system or if you go without doing routine flushes..

Choice is really up to you

You'll need to flush your system several times to get the dex out, but it's worth it to be rid of such a vile coolant. A thorough flush is a good thing to do on an older car, anyways.

Dexcool is awful .even when air doesn't get into the system it still turns to crap. Do your self a favor and flush out all the details and run green or yellow. Every GM car that I've owned has gotten that flush, the one that didn't had a continuous issue with the heater core clogging . I wanna meet the guy that decided that all gm cars should have dex cool and remove his genitalia with a dull knife

    Courtesy of Scotty:

    how to flush coolant.

remove the t stat, put the t stat housing back on, take the upper hose off the radiator, then push it down to the ground to a bucket or let it fly.

get your garden hose out, put it in the rad turn it on, then fire up the car, let it run till clear water pumps out the top hose.

then turn the hose off, run the car till no more water comes out the upper hose. then turn it off.

put your t stat back in, with new gasket, the upper hose back on.

now take 1 gallon of full strength green antifreeze, not the 50/50 crap. ( parts store cheap green is fine to use) dump the whole gallon in the radiator, fire up the car, fill the rad with hose water till its full. top as needed till its ready to be bled of air. it will burp and take coolant as the water in the block warms up the t stat opens up for a few seconds till cold coolant hits it and it shuts again.

now to bleed the air out, let it idle rad cap off till the fans turn on, (when the fans are on the temp is over 195 deg, the t stat is wide open) then open the bleeder screw on top the t stat housing a few turns till a steady stream of coolant comes out the hole, shut the screw, top off the rad. cap it.

    done.

I run green in all the grand prixs ive had. My g6 has dexcool, i flush the radiator and coolant tank soon as i get a car, the dexcool will eat at the intake gaskets.

I switched to green. But they were talking about this on "Under the Hood Show" podcast. They said that there was definitely issues with the old dex, but the newer stuff has been corrected. Something about the organic stuff in it.
