Hey guys.
Ill tell you about the car, its a 1995 grand prix 3100, ran great forever. Then it slowly started having problems. The car vapor locks in hot weather, once cools down it will start right up and drive fine.
One day, the car started sputtering a little while leaving work, that very same day I noticed the temp gauge rising and falling a decent amount. Car ran fine for days.
After a few days, problem happened again, was fine for a few days.
Few days later, car finally sputtered and would not get up to speed, and died. I restarted and limped it home.
I replaced fuel filter, it was nasty with all kinds of brown mud like fuel coming out. Car ran great for a few days. Then sputtered and died. Now it has a hard time, and I cant even drive it.
I went to clean out MAF, could not find MAF sensor. Went to NAPA to see what it looked like. I do not have a MAF on my car... so scratch that idea.
The thing just cranked and cranked and cranked the other day, no fire. Only thing i did was added antifreeze this winter (over full) and my headlight went out due to water in it...and i found a slight oil residue in my intake tubes while searching for the MAF sensor that I dont have.
The car smells gassy so im assuming it has pressure, and exhaust flowed fine so cat is not plugged...
what do I check next, crank position sensor? wherever that is at?
any help would be great guys! I am just hoping i dont have to drop the fuel tank.
Thanks in advance!
Jake
