Today i tried to fix a slow or slide bump 1-2 shift in the Yukon by replacing the 1-2 accumulator. Though I replaced it, I was unsuccessful in fixing the actual problem. That's a wasted few hours.

Swapped EGR valves with my buddies 01 GT that is sitting here to troubleshoot my persistant EGR codes. Took it for a few drives and so far no CEL. Looks like I'll be sourcing an EGR valve here shortly. Really need to get HPT and just tune that junk out and block it off.

Ordered a new EGR valve and a set of front R1 concepts rotors/pads. Might as well fix 2 issues at once. Brakes have been bugging me for a while and the current rotors are getting close to being too thin to cut so I just decided to order another new set and be done with it. Will be nice to be able to stop and not shake everything. Now I just need to fab up some spacers to account for the lowering springs and it should be 95% vibration free I hope...

Bought a 2003 Malibu for $650 today. Runs and drives and only has 87,000 miles. I guess when the previous owner slides off the road or whatever, does some beauty marks down the whole drivers side, the car can be had pretty cheap lol.

Folded the inner tie rod like a wet noodle. Already did a new inner and outer tie rod today so it can move around.

Needs a wheel bearing still, headlights (driver side got busted), 2 tires and the exhaust needs to be fixed at the muffler. I'll try to buff out what I can and also need to bend the fender back out and clean up that area so the new headlight will go in better. Hoping to be in it for $1,000ish.

Also it was dirty as hell on the inside, spent several hours doing a deep clean and I'm not done yet.

Five finger, you may have out done me lol. Paid 4 for a 03 malibu last week with 263k miles. Runs and drives good but needs a hood and muffler. Looks like yours needs more work, but has a 1/3 the miles!

I don't know yet what I'll do with it. It would be a good beater car when time comes, currently don't have the extra spot for it right now but can store it at the cabin.

I have probably 2 people that could be interested in it. Figure if it sold for $1,600-1,800 that's just an easy profit for not much work.

Yeah they are good vehicles for what they are. My dad had a 1997 Malibu back when they first came out with this body style, put over a 100,000 miles on it.

Parts are cheap and I still do part time work for a parts store, so that makes things even less. It would be nice if I could find someone parting out a same color car so I can get a new drivers side fender for cheap. New aftermarket fenders are super cheap too but they are black primer. Not the end of the world and that doesn't really bother me but a painted fender would be easier.

Drove it to the Blues hockey game last night for my birthday. Got compliments on my Blues puddle lights, lol.. Spent today making/installing the engine/trans spacers and installed the new R1 Concepts rotors/pads. Took it for a quick test drive and so far no more vibrations on accel and it stops smooth finally! Going to let the pads break in a bit before I get a hard pull on it but pretty sure everything is good now. Will be nice to not have the entire dash/steering wheel shake when I get on 'em hard from speed. So sick of front end vibs in this car so hopefully this is the end of it.

Also noticed that it's time to find some replacement struts as the KYB's are toast now. Went back and looked at when I installed them with the Eibach lowering springs and it's been a minute which would explain the extra bounce and possibly the clunk in the rear.

Just got back from a work trip to Parsons, KS in a 2020 Malibu. After cleaning out both rear wheels of the dried mud that I found on the inside of the rims it still had a vibration in it anywhere above 65mph. Also didn't handle the twisties as well as I had hoped. Dropped it off at the rental place and hopped back into my 21yr. old GP and drove home vibration free. Found it kind of sad that my old car lowered on Eibachs with worn out struts still drove more smoothly.

In my limited experience a lot of newer GM stuff (not all) is not near the quality of the older stuff. I worked at advance auto parts, and shops would constantly come in rebuilding GM 3.6's, mostly Traverses, Acadias and Enclaves, mostly Doing timing chains on them cause they didn't hold up. I hear some of the 4 cylinder had some issues with that too, and we would always sell the big 1 piece coil pack for chevy cruze's over and over. My aunt has a 2013 enclave too, and that thing had a motor under warranty, and has a intermittent loss of power steering issue for a couple years now, only has 70k miles.

Busted another window regulator. Pretty sure it's a new one. In a window I never open. 🤦

Owned a 3.1L 2000 Malibu that I bought in 06 for 5k with 52k on odometer that I used as a daily driver, Owned my present car, an 06 Grand Prix (bought in 09), at the same time. Put nearly 300k on the Malibu and sold it for 450.00 in 2015. Under body was rusted out and had multiple electrical issues, but the tranny and engine were still in excellent shape. I was still getting 33 mpg hwy when sold. It had the infamous intake manifold leak from the start, but I never fixed it since it was an external leak with only a little coolant seepage, and it never got worse. The Malibu never had any major issues. Never needed to change the wheel bearings, calipers, O2 sensors, struts, engine mounts, or other major components - just did brake pads, oil changes, plugs and wires. I would consider buying another Malibu or Buick, especially if cheap and in fairly good shape.

Just bought and gave to my grandma an 03 malibu 3.1 with 263k on it, thing runs and drives great yet, ac even works. Has what I guess to be piston slap on cold start, within a few mins it goes away completely and sounds great. Had a 03 grand am gt 3.4L before, sold to my neighbor with 219k on it, still see it around. I kinda miss that car, was dead reliable, good on gas, looked good too.

Figured out where the drone is coming from on my 00 GT. Apparently after 21 yrs. both mufflers have decided to start leaking at the seams. Time for a jy run to grab a res-back.

Also might explain the random clunking back there (besides the likely worn out struts) as there is only 1 hanger on each muffler left and the other 2 aren't far behind. Will be strapping them up over the weekend before I loose the entire rear section and bend the sh*t out of everything. Good time to order the new exhaust tips I want too while I'm at it.

That Malibu I just bought got the coathanger special. Both hangers are gone, and muffler is rusted and starting to leak. It'll get another when inspection comes due.
