Got the 95 Bonne inspected after a year of sitting while prepping/repairing for paint. Was nice to drive her again and passed with no issues. Unfortunately in August I lost my paint guy so going to have to talk to the shop that did my F1 hood and see what kind of price I'm looking at since I can't paint and I'd hate to waste all the effort my Dad and I put into it to make it look nice again.

Got the 00 GP inspected on the same day at the same shop. Passed no problem even after the mechanic questioned the odo reading, lol... I guess at 453K miles he figured it was broken. Nope, not yet I just keep it rollin'.

Been getting somework done to the old GXP.
-Replaced both front hubs. (Still no abs &#129335
-control arm bushings, ball joints, tie rods

Im ready for the larger sway bar but not the cost of control arms. Think I'll have my brother CNC some tabs for the endlinks and just weld them onto the control arms I have.

Finally got the oil/filter changed out on Sat. Good to go 'til 457k. Noticed a slight PS leak that I'll track down next spring. Looks to be coming from the pump area, so it could be the pump or one of the lines at that end. At this mileage I'm suspecting the rubber part on the return line might just be toast.

Had to get the daughter to school today since the bus was late (first day back actually in a real classroom) and gave it a good pull just because and let it get some nice cool/dense fall air. I guess there are some advantages to having to turn onto a rural 2-lane hwy at the end of my street where the speed limit is 55

this dance used to be fun in the regal, its meh in the tahoe, the SS im spinning tires lol

Yea, not as fun as it used to be since I have to baby the GP as the trans is meh at best and can't afford to blow it up just yet. The Bonne would be better at this point but don't want to kill that one either.

Need to take the Vic out next time and give it a good run since it's been sitting for a bit. The way I have it setup it can pull a small tire chirp from 1-2 if I'm really in it. Still crap for a V8 in my eyes but not bad for 4K lb. car with only 287/tq. and 230K miles on it at 17yrs old.

As long as the SS doesn't come around on you it's a win, lol..

That "pull" term always cracks me up. In my two ton plus had it twenty plus years junk I better be going straight on part or full throttle 1-2s. Theres a favorite spot near where I usually turn around where I can feather first halfway through a curve then drop the hammer and plunk the column shifter up a notch then if she stays within a lane and a half I then sometimes enjoy letting it eat all of second. But by then everyone within half a mile knows about it.

I actually have worked on my junks a relative lot of late. Carb adventures that are too far past mortal attention span for you guys to want to hear about. 455 runs good but now have a better (same, EPS 750) carb to build. Tried it out and its good for another inch of mercury without the miled out throttle shaft.

Front and rear pads started squealing same week on the 'P. Did ceramic fronts Sunday. Last ones I tried organic but won't do that again says man with brown front Bullitts.

Last night I swapped a GTP tie rod end. The boot had a rip when I got the car and it was finally getting spooky 80K+ later. Used the part I bought for the GT several years ago that it just never needed after the wrecks.

Oh also... finally was able to start getting paid a little for art and design on the side, on the current build. Tons of sketches and computer renderings to assist in nailing down preferences and details on a laundry list of exterior mods and some of the computer stuff I have blogged (link in sig). But I also finally quit wasting myself on showing the work on forums.

I narrowed a '56 grille to go on the '51 last week and have been hacking up the old hood fairly hardcore, to help choose and plan modifications. Since that process drags onward, I started focusing on the all new bed as of yesterday. Getting it together and mounted so I can make a roll pan and then tubs from old fenders plus widening fenders at bottom rear to match. It is fun work doing the metal but trying to make a good impression with the art has cost a good bit of sleep. Hands are about destroyed from doing bodywork so long and my objective is to find some relief by using mouse instead of hammer and such.

There. Maybe the you haven't posted in weeks nag message will go away now.

Replacing my rear endlinks yesterday I noticed an aweful squeel from the rear hubs. Found out which one it was, went and got a new hub and as I was taking the rotor off to get to the hub I discovered it was the parking brake. Jammed. 🤦

@idrivejunk- That "junk" sounds like a fun ride as long as it stays between the ditches. Remember, shiny side up!

Good to hear you're getting a small break from body work. I've been friends w/ a body guy for the last 30yrs and he's getting pretty beat up now too. Used to do side work for people and now just doesn't even want to deal with it, which I can understand when you spend 50+ hrs. a week in a shop for a long time. Custom stuff like what you do is even more of a PITA.

Troubleshot the P0128 code it threw on Thursday. Temp gauge has been spotty at best lately and I have a coolant leak from from what I suspect is the rad cap. Filled the system back up and replaced the cap. Removed the ECT harness and cleaned all the connections and moved it further away from the crossover. Cleared the code and took it for a drive to heat it all up. So far the temp gauge is working again and my TC is now locking like it should.

Just replaced my leaking oil pan with gasket, what a pain in the ass it was. The only problem I had was installing the 3rd upper rear motor bracket bolt, which at the end I DIDN'T. All done now but a leaking low oil sensor, replaced it with a new one and realized the O-ring was missing from the original one. I assume it got was stuck on the old oil pan. Make sure you replace the O-ring from on the low oil sensor!

I replaced the failing CPS today. Hardest part get the crank bolt torqued. Ended up having the socket slip off. Smashed my thumb on the LCA. Said a few choice words finished up my work. Can't bend my thumb but the car runs fine now lol

One thing that worried me was when I started the car there was a loud ticking. I couldn't tell if it was the from the front or back valve cover. It went away after it warmed up. The car hadent been started since the beginning of September.

Yea, that b*tch bolt can stay out. Left mine out when I changed engine/trans a LONG time ago and hasn't been an issue.

@wowitsfast- this is why I have learned to torque things like that with my hand open and use my palm, that way when something slips it just smashes the tool and not my fingers. Likely you just have a lifter that bled down from sitting so long. Give it a good run and it'll likely quiet down again. My 95 Bonne did that this year when I fired her up after sitting for almost 6 months. Once it warmed up and I took it for a drive the sound hasn't come back.

Found that I have a trans fluid leak somewhere. Did my routine fluid checks and I was missing 1/2 quart. Thinking it's another line leaking. Gotta clean up the underside a bit to figure out where it's coming from. Everything else on the motor is dry so I know it's from the trans. I'm due for a pan drop/filter change anyway so not a big deal but would like this one to hang on just a bit longer before it lunches itself.

Got the ZZP 2.5" catted downpipe today. Finally able to start the teardown of my friends 01 exhaust. Got the entire system out from under it and old downpipe off. As usual I have to drill out the broken off catback bolts. I did mine so long ago I forgot how much of a PITA that is. Gonna pick up some more cutoff wheels tomorrow and a few carbide drill bits.

Gonna throw a new Denso 02 in just because I'm there and don't feel like going back in again.

Also found where the fuel smell has been coming from. Stupid quick connect on the pressure side of the rail is leaking. Glad I caught it. Time to shove some new O-rings in it before it burns itself down.

01 GP is fuel leak free so far. Need to drive it more to get the cat monitors online so it can pass emissions.

My 00 GT threw a P1404 today so I'll pull the EGR and clean it out again. Also still complaining about the coolant temp so I'll likely replace the wire harness to the CTS and see what I get. Probably just hit the JY before it gets too cold and find one from a car that doesn't have almost a half million miles on it before I go through the trouble of replacing the coolant sensor itself.
