Put pre-gens on an 04 GP...
Pre-Gens make me happy. by Ben Stryker, on Flickr
I honestly like the look.
Go for lunch today, remote start (aftermarket alarm) car, let the A/C do its work for a few minutes. Get in car, drive away, notice security light is lit up on the dash cluster. Interesting. Stop to get lunch, come back to car, start manually, starts then dies. Interesting. Try several more times, starts then dies. Security light is still on. Stupid factory alarm. Decide to remote start, car starts, security light is out, drive back to work with no problems. ?!? Hope this was a one time deal.
That's why I hate most aftermarket remote starts for GM W-Body cars... they mess with the PK3 system in weird ways or try to fool it with extra sensors and antennas and fancy words.
I don't mind walking outside to start it and heading back inside to let it warm up/cool down, because it's too much of a headache (for me, at least) trying to make an aftermarket system work they way a factory remote start should.
Replaced the battery in the 69 yesterday. Good to be able to trust it again. Rolled past 260K in the GTP at the endo the week. Finished up the metal work on the 59 Pontiac job and am starting on a hairy five window Model A coupe job next.
Got a bunch of stuff done recently on my GTP!

Learned how to "wire" the led's on my headlights after like 2 years. The rings definitely aren't bright but still a small nice touch.

The front was a rust bucket and it's all brand new now. Getting the new solid metal sway bar in to place alone was TOUGH, I was sweating bullets trying to do that

Just did the rear suspension as well! Also a complete rust bucket. I'd almost say it was harder than the front to get installed. Removing them was a piece of cake.

And finally... Not the most glamorous car, but definitely sitting higher!
I also got the camshaft position sensor replaced, and this is going to sound so stupid but... It was never plugged in to begin with. Facepalm. It was cheap anyways, and it got rid of my code
A couple of days ago I loaded up the turd on a tow dolly to drive 4,500 miles... Thanks UHaul, for having the equipment I reserved.
It'll be fine... by Ben Stryker, on Flickr
It has made it from Fairbanks, AK to Fort Nelson, BC so far, just under 1200 miles and I haven't noticed any major damage... yet.
Those roads in the Yukon though.... holy potholes.
Well... It definitely made contact with asphalt today. The aluminum has some gouging on the bottom, but it didn't completely tear the exhaust tips off (unfortunately)...
I told the wife that I'm getting an all new exhaust when I get there, because it's going to be completely chewed up by the time I actually make it to MD. She's totally on board, mostly because she feels bad that it's getting beat to hell.
LOL, by the time you arrive, just junk it!
I've already been rear ended by a Canadian, literally right at the US border... The Customs agents detained him and came to find me at the rest stop right on the other side of the border, and sent a truck to come find me so I could speak with him before they let him go.
They were pissed that it happened on the Canadian side, because they couldn't do anything legally... But they made his life hell for an hour. Gotta love when the law enforcement officers are all prior service.
Dropped my rusting out catback... And realized that the 3" stainless mandrel bend catback I ordered and have is larger than the catback that was there. Seems the Pace Setter catback dropped to 2.5" to the mufflers and I forgot about this little detail. So is gonna cost me 2 new stainless Hooker MaxFlow mufflers as well. Sucks... Seems I'll have 2 - 2.5" stainless maxflows for my garage sale list (someday soon)...
Also finally installed the Adco Rear Sway I've had laying around forever as I was under there.
Scary how much of my rockers are rusted out/gone... Gotta get that done before winter, or find a clean donor car. Don't want to do the donor car because there would be a month of swapping shyt over as I've put so much into the car.
Anyways... Just thought to add to the thread as its been a while.
If your inners are going going going best to find a donor, fixing that properly is $$
Watched my volt gauge drop to 9.5V on the way home. Was acting kinda weird all day. Suspected the alt was toast. Made it home to check things out and discovered while installing my fuel pressure gauge and moving the volt gauge up to the top of the pillar mount my brother hooked up the old signal wire from the trans. temp gauge to the voltmeter. He was helping out as I was under the hood with the rest so no big deal. Not sure how it was working beforehand but it did until today for some reason. Luckily it didn't fry the gauge.
Looked at my broken passenger rear window that's taped up. Replaced it maybe about 2 years ago after it was broken for like 6 years. Now it broke again outta nowhere, probably because of $40 ebay window regulator. Have a new one on order, hopefully it lasts longer, but ive had this car 10 years already.
