Removed a front hub on our 05 Monte LT. Got a pair on the way from e-bay. Was getting trac lights and a scan showed left front. ABS wires were frayed bad real close to hub. Broke a Craftsman socket & found out that Ace Hardware doesn't honor the lifetime guarantee UNLESS you bought that tool from them. So a 30 mile round trip to a Sears Hometown store to get the freebie.... Oh well, nice day for a motorcycle ride.

Charged the battery from the Model J last night. Leaving headlights on after being out in rain is my new thing, this is the second time this year and I blame it on the fact that I usually use the GTP when its dark or rainy. But it has new tires this year so been doing some of that. Last time, I only charged the battery about 80% before driving and juuust about burnt an alternator wire up.

Almost done putting the GXP back together. Just needs exhaust, fluid and starter. I'm worried about those 3 grounds near the starter I have them all attached to the transmission bolt with the stud head.

I break things.

Just make sure you clean them really well, and use some form of dielectric grease to keep corrosion from creating a problem there

^^^I called the shop that just replaced my 2nd gear clutch. Lucky me they seem to think the problem w my pressure solenoid is either a pinched wire or the harness isnt plugged in all the way. I hope so.

Just did the crank position sensor on my 99 GTP. Bought the puller for the harmonic balancer at harbor Freight for 15$. The kit comes with only two of the bolts I needed, which are 1/4 x 28 fine thread. Got the harmonic balancer off with the starter bump trick, but had to go to hardware store for Grade 8 bolts to be able to pop the balancer. Another 6 bucks for those, but still a win in the end. Going to take a test drive now hope I don't have to deal with the case learn stuff.

Update : Finished hub install, put new front brakes on while in was up in the air. ABS code C1232 was still there. Turns out while testing the loom, I bent the tabs in the harness plug so they weren't making contact. Bent them back and now it's fine.

After doing my coolant elbows the other day I wanted to clean out my coolant reservoir before putting new coolant in. I'm sure it's never been cleaned and just hit 100,000 miles on my 2001 GT with what is probably the original Dexcool. I tried everything from Simple Green, Krud Kutter, coffee grounds....and even floor stripper. Nothing seemed to touch the slimy oily remnants of the Dexcool.
I finally tried a little gasoline and with a little shaking....the tank looks almost like new. It took a little soaking in hot soapy water to get rid of the gasoline odor.

Changed oil in the 2003 GTP. Tried to use my new vacuum extractor to see how it worked and could not get the tube down the dipstick tube. Something was blocking about 3/4 way down. ?????
So had to go old school.

It could be a piece of the plastic dipstick handle. Part of mine broke off and fell down inside, so bad that I couldn't get the dipstick in the last 6 inches. Had to pay to get it corrected as it was winter time in New England.

Nope. I changed the oil in the 08 today and same thing. Only goes in 5 inches short of the dipstick length. I have read the GM 5.3 engines do the same thing. Not sure what it is but old school oil changes for them.

Nothing beats taking your trans and getting it fixed, putting it back in yourself and then having to take it right back to the shop for a new pressure solenoid. I did not save any money. The GXP is super fun but the trans problems are wearing real thin after 6.5 years. I should have a punch card for my visits to the tranny shop.
