i have just purchased a 97 GTP with 176000 miles and nothing wrong with it besides being rusty and needing a battery, it had a battery in it to test drive it but i trailered it home and am in need of a battery now, how many CCA's does this require?

Should be a minimum of 690 CCA. But get the best CCA rating you can get out of a group size 78 battery. My local parts store carries a 770 CCA battery in 78.

IIRC my Walmart Everstart Max is 800CCA, but I'd have to double check for sure.

I'd go with an AGM, a bit pricey but you will never go back to a wet cell again. The battery would be half the price of the car though.
