I have a 2007 GP 3.8 with block heater. Can I replace the power cord without removing starter? I suspect I have built in thermostat that won't turn on til -18C? and, since in my garage it won't work.
If the end of the cord looks like this, it won't turn on untill 0ยบ F or -18c I think.
You can remove that cap and take out the sensor inside there, then just solder the two metal tabs together and it will work at any temp.

That's it exactly. Will give it a go and then tackle the same one on my mothers Impala. Thanks 5finger
I'd do it the garage or somewhere that you can set the plug in on a good surface, it's kinda hard to get the wire to stay flat so you can solder it across.
My first attempt only lasted like 3 days, bumps and stuff broke the solder so I had to redo it. Second time I used gobs of solder wire to make sure it worked lol.
