When you change it from KPH to MPH on the DIC it causes the needle on the speedometer to adjust accordingly. This video shows it.

Two questions:
1) How hard is that too do?
2) That doesn't affect the odometer does it? (I wouldn't think so but just wanted to make sure)

Yup very simple.. Just gotta remove a few of the trim pieces to access a few screws and then bam it comes out.
Odometer is stored in the DIC so no need to worry about that changing.

The seller is going to be in the area in about 30 minutes and he's going to come by with the car for me to look at.
Re: Narrowed Down My Search - Seeking Final Opinions On 2004 Grand Prix - Buying For
just finished taking the car for a drive. A few things kind of steering me away. Let me know your thoughts.
1) Smelled oil while driving.
2) Had rusted out mufflers. He told me it need a pipe but these mufflers were rotted out. I was planning to replace them and have m offer reflect that but still didn't expect them to look like that.
3) Front bumper had a nice crack right in the center.
4) Center piece on dash and dash near windshield were cracked. Was that from the same impact that damaged the bumper? It's in the pics but I didn't notice it before. He said he thinks his son did it when he replaced the radio.
5) LIM gasket: He said he changed it. Looking at it I saw black plastic/rubber. I asked him about it and he said it is a metal gasket surrounded by rubber. Is that correct?
6) Ride was kind of eh... my 2004 that had original struts and 170k rode better. He said it has new struts. Maybe that just made it stiff?
I don't know, what do you guys think?
I'm tempted to go look at some other 2005, 2006, etc that look nicer. I;m just working about that damn LIM. I don't want to tackle that.
Re: Narrowed Down My Search - Seeking Final Opinions On 2004 Grand Prix - Buying For
Step away and check a few others out. Trust your gut feeling. If you do not see a silver gasket it hasn't been updated. Its possible he put a black one back in, but there is no black rubber material around the perimeter.
burning oil could just be from that atrocious engine bay. Valve covers could be leaking which he would have changed IF he did the LIM.
I would step away. Its not like its priced extremely well that you would be getting a deal. Especially with this list of problems you have already uncovered 10 mins after driving.
Keep looking.

oil leaks can be tricky to isolate. I would probably go look at a few others

Sounds like it wasn't taken care of. I'd pass on it.
