I've been getting conflicting advise about my new-to-me 5-button DIC about how to adjust the miles, from "It'll automatically show the car's miles, since it's stored in the car's computer (bollocks!)" to "It has to be adjusted at the factory (well, that guy is exclusively a Mopar tech);" so... how exactly does the odometer get readjusted? Is the only thing needed then the Tech 2 tool?

Pretty sure any GM dealer with a tech 2 scanner or something similar can change the mileage.

most of the cluster re builders places on ebay can correct the mileage. ( they have you sign a waver to change it) not sure how its done, but the miles are stored in the cluster, or the dic in your case.

maybe worth a few pm's to a seller or two of repair work to see if they can do your dic. if you cant figure it out on your own.

what most will do also, and is legal, is to put a sticker on the inside of the door jam with the old dic miles, and then the new miles, so you can figure out what the true miles are.

sounds like a 3 to 5 button dic swap happened or is in the plans.

Yep! And thank goodness everything else works on the 5-button DIC, too! Now, since I posted this thread, I searched GPONA and found a thread (albeit 5 years old) describing how it's done... and that you can kill any argument with a GM service centre who claims "It's impossible!"

There's a company-AJR International-that does the cluster and radio work, including reprogramming DIC mileages, for GM. I'm going through them when I have the $80 plus shipping (through USPS) to spare... in a couple of weeks.
