From what I understand it is a huge pain to keep clean.

I just picked up an 04 that needed a new hood and bumper and was thinking about dipping it black until I can get it painted next summer! But always see so much hate towards it

Just do it it's yor car. And it's not hard to keep clean. And do something cooler than black but make it glossy. And use the actual kit. I think It's a cool product.

it can be cool but ONLY if it is done right. as in no zebra striping, no thin spots, no dry spots on the gloss coat ect. I'd recommend using the kit for sure as well. If not, at least make sure you but a few coats of glossifier on it or it wont last in the sun

Its Called Plasti-Dip for one of two reasons: Its a plastic based layer that is sprayed on the car. SPRAYED....not DIPPED.

So where does the term Dip come from? Its because you have to be a Dip-Sh1t to use it. Maybe it should be called Plasti-Dip-Sh1t.

i like you're interpretation of what the dip means... but the brand name plasti dip originally produced, and still does, a product which you dipped tool handles into in order to create a rubber grip. fun fact so thats where the dip comes from its just the brand name... not necessarily the product name
