So I decided to take the long way to work since I got up an hour earlier than I needed to... Got up to about 50 mph cruising and the temp just kept climbing. Hit 260° and yelled at me right when i got into the parking lot, so after it cooled off i went to check the level and found some nasty brown goo on the bottom of the radiator cap... looks like a flush is in order, and the LIM and elbows are already in the mail. What i wanna know is how did you do it? And who had what kind of nastiness where? I want all of the horror stories.

For the flush, a garden hose works well. Spray through the upper radiator hose, out of the bottom one into a bucket for both the radiator and the block (take out the thermostat first). It also wouldn't hurt to backflush the heater core, it's the two hoses that come off the belt tensioner.

Spray until it comes out clear and refill to a 50/50 mix. If it's really bad, run straight water for a day or two and then flush again. And clean out the overflow tank since it's probably gummed up too.
For thine is the Cam, The Piston, and The Rod, Forever and ever (or until they break). Amen.
